Blessing of the Boats 2022

This afternoon we took part in the RNLI Blessing the Boats Ceremony at the Lifeboat Station in Lyme Regis. The weather was perfect and there was a huge crowd who took part in the service, the culmination of which was when the lifeboat slowly left the harbour carrying the floral wreaths – always a special moment.
This was our first appearance this summer and on this occasion we were under the leadership of our Chairman, Ellis Holt.
Our next engagement will be on Sunday, 5th June when we will be attending the Jubilee Service at St Michael’s Church in Lyme Regis at 11.00 am. In the afternoon on that day we will also be playing from 4.00 pm until 4.45 pm on top of the shelters alongside Lister Gardens, as part of Picnic in the Park, another Jubilee event, this one being organised by Alan Vian. We are very much looking forward to taking part in the town’s celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Many thanks to Annette Denning for the photo. Words: Gilly
