Carols, Carols and more Carols!

Carols in Broad Street on Christmas Eve ended a very busy period for the band. Their Christmas season began with the band playing at the Festive Friday celebration in Axminster. On the following day, they entertained the shoppers in Lyme Regis with traditional carols.

IMG_20151224_111715106_HDR (800x560)For several years, the band have provided music at the All Saints Annual Christmas Concert, and this year was no exception, contributing solos as well as accompanying the carol singing. Visits to local residential homes have always featured in their Christmas programme, but for the first time, invites were issued for the residents to join the band at their annual Christmas concert, held at the Woodmead Halls, (see separate report). A number of them took up the offer and the residents enjoyed a great afternoon of entertainment, which included tea and cakes during the interval.

As well as the regular fixture of the Rotary carols around the tree on the day before Christmas Eve, the band played carols in Broad Street on three separate occasions. Despite the occasional rain showers, the mild weather brought out the shoppers who clearly appreciated their contribution to the Christmas atmosphere. During each session, the band were provided with complimentary hot drinks by the owner of the Fudge Kitchen beside the town Christmas tree, which were greatly appreciated. There was also an appearance at Tesco’s Seaton.

Following a Christmas and New Year break, our next event will be the Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday 12th January, at the Woodmead Halls. New players are always welcome and anyone interested should contact the Secretary on 01297 442719.
