New MD Announced

Lyme Regis Town Band now has a new Musical Director at the helm!  At their recent AGM, band members appointed Brian Scott from Weymouth as their Musical Director. Brian has a wealth of experience both as a player of a variety of brass instruments and as a conductor.  For the past year, he has been leading the band jointly with fellow band member Roger Grose, but will now take over the baton on a permanent basis.  As a mark of appreciation for his hard work and commitment, Brian was voted this year’s winner of the Gordon Broom Memorial Shield.  The Bandmaster’s Award, for the most improved player, was presented to Mrs Gilly Warr.

Other appointments agreed at the AGM included Councillor Owen Lovell as President, Paul Snowball at Chairman, Adrian Pearson as Treasurer and Gilly Warr as Secretary. In his report the Chairman, Paul Snowball, referred to a sucessful summer season during 2015 and a very busy Christmas period.  The band is now working on new material for its popular concerts on the Marine Parade in Lyme Regis during July and August and looks forward to supporting many local organisations in Lyme Regis including the Royal British Legion, the RNLI and the Carnival Committee.
